New Boston Has an Excellent Education System
New Boston Independent School District serves over 1,550 students on three campuses, with a staff of over 200 personnel, and an annual budget in excess of $7.5 million, our school district sets the pace for educational progress in Bowie County, striving to develop and educate each child to their most exciting potential.
Our students excel at state level in academics, music and sports.
In August 2000, New Boston Independent School District received notification from the Texas Education Agency that the district and all three campuses had received the "Exemplary" Accountability Rating.
New Boston is one of 168 school districts in the state of Texas that earned this rating. Of the 1,041 school districts in the state of Texas, only 16% are "Exemplary." A campus or district earns this rating based on the TAAS scores of the student population. Ninety percent of the students in the following groups must pass the TAAS test: African students, White students, Hispanic students, Pacific Island students, and Economically Disadvantage students. The TAAS tests are given in grades 3, 5, 6, and 7 in the areas of reading and math; in grades 4, 8, and 10 in the areas of math, reading and writing. It is extremely exciting for the district to earn this ranking. This is only attained through the hard work of outstanding students, teachers, and the administrative staff.
