Business of the Year Award

Business of the Year Award is an annual award by the New Boston TX Chamber of Commerce to a local business that has really stepped up and helped us and our community.

West Fraser Lumber Mill - Business of the Year - 2023

It all started with 3 brothers and 12 employees in 1955 in a small town way over in British Columbia, Canada. By 1970 they had over $24 Million in Sales and hired their first reforestation person. By 1980 they had planted over 10 million trees. 1986 went public. 1990 they had planted over 100 million trees. 1995 Sales were 1.5 Billion Dollars – Now, averaging that per quarter!! 2000 had planted 300 Million Trees. 2007 acquired 13 mills in southern US from International Paper and became largest softwood lumber producer in North America.

2015 saw their start here in New Boston, Texas

Based on just their own reforestation of over 2 Billion Trees planted since 1970, they are very environmentally aware of how important our world is. If you’ve driven by their entrance, they have a “sample” of what is really a huge Solar Farm being built between their plant and I-30. They’ve been a great Chamber Member and always asking what they can do to help our community. They’ve been giving away free hams to 100’s of people every December. Last year they donated $5,000 to our largest community event – Pioneer Days!!
